I rarely carry cash. I use my credit card for EVERYTHING. Why? Because I get points for it. And then Costco sends me a check (this year the check was over $500!!) that I can spend at Costco. Oh, I love that. It's free money! And who doesn't want to spend $500 at Costco?
So I just use my Amex for everything I buy and pay it off each month. I'm sure it's screwing up my credit, since they want you to actually carry a balance, but oh well. It's working for me, for now. I will save my $1.35 for a DP when I get back to the states. Cause, yeah, I'm in Aruba...
