Jingle Bells

The girls had their dance performance tonight, and they did so great! They had these very cute scarves to go with their class outfit they wear to dance. Each class had a different accessory, and I love the green scarves with the bright pink tops.
They are in the same class this year and they did a very cute tap dance to Jingle Bells. They are getting so good! It's fun to watch them learn new things and improve. Both of them are constantly doing cartwheels and handstands around the house, and I mean CONSTANTLY! I can't tell you have many pieces of furniture, walls, and body parts have been kicked by a flying foot...but, they are getting very good!
The girls were partners in the dance and they were so dang cute! Just look at them! :) Love these girls to death!

Dance

The girls had their year end concert last week and did amazing! I haven't got the video on the computer yet, but I will soon. For now here are the pictures of them after the show.

This is a shot of Syd and me at her last competition. We decided to take her down a level and out of competition. She is very good, but the competitions were a bit much for her. She was getting bored and didn't look forward to them. A few days before the last one I mentioned it to her and she said, "I already have a trophy!" She didn't want to go. She does love dance though so both girls will be at the "Darling" level where they go to class twice a week and dance in the year end concert.
We love dance and especially the studio the girls dance at, Vision. It is a great studio with wonderful teachers. The girls are learning a ton and getting stronger and more flexible. With this change in level Syd will have more time to take piano lessons, and possibly karate for both of them.

Dancing

The girls started taking dance at Vision Dance in September and have learned SO much! They have great teachers who have taught them very well. They have both improved so much since they started there!
Jessica has become so flexible and gained so much balance! Syd is getting more flexible and is so strong. She works very hard to be sure to get each step right. They both pay a great deal of attention to detail and practice a lot! They really enjoy dancing!

Syd danced to toe Nutcracker song and did such a great job. She has wonderful stage presence. She smiled beautifully the entire time and didn't miss a step!
The pictures I got of Jess were too far back and she was behind another girl the whole time so they didn't turn out. Luckily we got video of her dance. She danced to Mariah Carey's version of "Santa Claus is coming to town" and it was adorable! She took it very seriously and practiced at least 5 times a day as she was learning it!

I am so excited that they both love to dance and that we are able to take them to such a great studio!

Tiny Dancer

Ok, so she's not so tiny anymore, but she sure is a dancer! She is getting so good! She started at Vision DLC in the summer and has loved every minute of it! Syd got her first pair of competition dance sweats tonight! She looks so grown up in them. They have her name on the front and some fancy bling on the back. Here we go with the dance scene!

Dancin' in the Rain

The girls took ballet and tap and had their recital at the Sandy Amphitheater on June 1, and it rained harder than I remember in years!  It was insane.  The recital went on for a little bit, and then right after my girls' dance they cancelled the recital.  It was miserable for the dancers and most of the audience had taken off by then anyway.  Only the parents remained.
Here is a picture of syd dancing with some of her friends.  Syd is the 5th from the right.  She did the dance well and loved being on the stage.
Jess, on the other hand, was not a huge fan of the stage.  She is on the left with her hands in her mouth sobbing.  Her friend Rebecca is next to her wondering what on earth could be wrong, and her teacher Tiffany is trying to console her right before the dance started.   It didn't work.  Jess looked like this through the whole dance and by the time I got to her backstage she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown!  She was so upset!  Poor little thing got scared at the last minute and was cold in the rain.
Here we are after the show was cancelled.  I look like I just got out of the shower.  My mom was holding Kayman and kept him pretty dry, he loved watching the rain.  They rescheduled the remainder of the recital for the following week.
Here are Syd and Jess just before the second go at the recital, which also had a terrible rain storm.  Don't they look beautiful!  They were more excited to wear make-up than to dance!  Well, when it was time go to on stage, I saw that Jess didn't go out next to Syd like we had talked about.  Then I saw her in the arms of another mother who was trying to console her.  She got scared again and didn't even walk out on stage this time.  She had a slight case of stage fright! :)
As soon as Syd finished the two dances beautifully we went to Dairy Queen for ice cream.  The girls are changing to a studio my friend just opened and we are so excited!  They love to dance!
